Job Title: SQL Database Administrator
Position Summary:
The DBA will be responsible for setting up and optimizing the SQL Server environment. This role involves ensuring data flows correctly into the database, maintaining performance, supporting users who access the data, and ensuring proper data retention, backup, and security practices are in place. The DBA will work closely with our internal Business Intelligence team, external engineering partner, and IT stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server Standard in an on-premises environment in cooperation with the infrastructure networking, server and security teams.
- Collaborate with BI Analyst to ensure connectivity for data analysis (SQL DB).
- Automate and monitor ingestion pipelines from Python scripts.
- Develop backup, retention, and disaster recovery processes.
- Optimize database performance (indexing, query tuning, resource allocation).
- Manage database security (user permissions, role management, encryption).
- Support scaling and future-proofing the database for additional data volume.
- Document database architecture, processes, and maintenance routines.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for data access or performance issues.
- Proven experience as SQL DBA (SQL Server Standard, 2019+ preferred).
- Experience with file-based ingestion and automation workflows (i.e., CSV to SQL or vice versa).
- Familiarity with Python-based ETL/ingestion scripts (working knowledge; no need to code).
- Strong understanding of database security and compliance best practices.
- Experience supporting BI environments (Power BI, SAP Datasphere integration).
- Ability to collaborate with BI analysts, engineers, and IT teams.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Experience with manufacturing or quality control data systems.
- Familiarity with HMI systems or industrial data sources.
- Knowledge of cloud-readiness and hybrid database architectures.
