About Client
The client is a well-known women’s apparel company with 60+ years of experience in the retail industry. Their products can be found online for global purchase. Furthermore, they have their products at 65 retail outlets, 70 signature shops, and several departmental stores in the USA. They offer products exclusively for the summer season that range from vibrant casual clothing to elegant accessories.
The Challenge
The client has an e-commerce website based on a legacy AS400 backend. This website required data to be updated manually on the IFS files. This manual data update created a problem in providing customers with real-time updates, which resulted in poor user experience. Furthermore, the website lacked a password policy to educate users on the importance and best practices of developing and implementing strong passwords.
Technology Stack
The Solution
Our developers and QAs tested the solution to resolve the client’s challenges.
Implementing Testing Strategies
Programmers.io took responsibility for each functional area of the information flow to create and implement a decision table using Microsoft Excel. This decision table ensured correct data updates in all fields based on color, style, and UPC.
Identifying Improvement Areas
Programmers.io developers thoroughly analyzed each IT request and its corresponding functional domain. This analysis helped them detect bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. They also collaborated closely with the clients to validate those changes before implementing them.
Incorporating the Changes
Upon approval, our developers implemented the revised testing methodologies and a new password policy within the given timeframe. These implementations automated data updates on the website, enhanced workflows, improved security, and upgraded shopping experience.
Business Impact
Bi-weekly Release Cycles
With the introduction of automation, the client increased their operational efficiency and successfully transitioned to bi-weekly release cycles. Furthermore, they also delivered frequent enhancements and updates to their users.
Real-time Data Delivery
The e-commerce website delivered real-time data updates to users after implementing the testing strategies. For example, the website directly synced information from the inventory to provide instant updates about product availability.
Secure Shopping Experience
The newly implemented password policy helped the client to promote a cybersecurity culture by guiding users to create strong passwords. Furthermore, it also eliminated the risk of compromising users’ sensitive information.
Marketing Goal Achievement
The client delivered a secure and smooth shopping experience to its millennial customers. The client achieved its marketing goals due to Programmers.io’s dedicated efforts in providing the modernized solution within the deadline.
