The client, a privately held and majority employee-owned supermarket chain, is headquartered in Boise, Idaho, with a strong presence across ten U.S. states, including Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington. Established in 1967, the company initially operated as a no-frills, warehouse-style retailer focused on delivering low prices. Today, it continues to uphold its legacy of value-driven retail while expanding its footprint and adapting to the evolving needs of its diverse customer base.

The Challenge

The client needed the user to view all items authorized for sale by the store and department. This visibility was critical to help them effectively de-authorize UPCs for specific stores that did not intend to carry those products. Without this functionality, they faced challenges maintaining accurate product availability across their locations, leading to inefficiencies. They required a solution that streamlined this process and ensured better control over their inventory management.

The Solution

We developed a program that allowed users to run authorized UPC reports based on parameters such as store, UPC, department, category, subcategory, and price types.

We added a list selection option, enabling users to choose specific stores or fields to streamline the report generation.

We optimized the report size by allowing users to focus on relevant data, making it easier to manage UPCs across multiple locations.

Business Impact

We listed authorized items, ensuring users could easily keep the system updated and accurate with the latest information.

Users could select specific filters or pass lists through the filters, allowing them to generate more focused and relevant reports.

We provided a prompt option, making it easier for users to select the appropriate values when running reports, reducing errors, and improving efficiency.

Reports were run interactively and automatically emailed to users, ensuring timely delivery and easy access to crucial information.
