“As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way.” – Mary Anne Radmacher
Rajasthan, known for its scorching summers with temperatures often soaring above 45°C (113°F), is one of the hottest regions in India. With the rise in global warming, Rajasthan witnessed a sharp rise of 50°C (122°F ) in its temperature this year, which surged hospitalization and death rates drastically. This intense heat has affected children, especially those who do not have access to proper accommodation and basic amenities. Without these necessities, children are left to cope with stifling conditions that impact their daily lives, sleep, and ability to focus on their education and development.
In an effort to address the pressing need for improved living conditions for orphaned children, Programmers.io initiated its first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project. As a part of this drive, Programmers.io provided essential accommodation items to Samarpan Sanstha, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering deprived children and women in India. This initiative aimed to improve the living conditions of 60 children by donating much-needed essentials and offering emotional and educational support.
Connecting for a Compassionate Cause
The Programmers.io team led by Nirmal Khatri, Programmers.io’s Vice President of Technology, visited the organization to personally connect with the children and understand the challenges they face in their daily lives. During the visit, the team addressed accommodation challenges by providing cabinets, chairs, ceiling fans, and pedestal fans.
They also got the chance to interact with the children. During their conversation, they got valuable insights into the children’s day-to-day lives, interests, talents, and academic pursuits, gradually forming a bond to be cherished for a lifetime.
“Seeing the smiles on the faces of these children was truly rewarding,” said Nirmal Khatri. “While we were happy to provide material assistance, it was the time spent listening to their dreams and struggles that truly impacted us. We hope this small effort can make a difference in their lives.”
Visualizing the Larger Goal
Through this initiative, Programmers.io is not only addressing the children’s immediate accommodation needs but is also committed to providing ongoing encouragement and support for their personal and educational growth. The team found immense joy in seeing the children’s smiles and talents, which further strengthened the company’s resolve to continue supporting underserved communities.
