The Challenge
The client had container log and shipping schedule applications for their external (customer) shipment operations. These applications did not have the mechanism to allocate, manage, and track reusable containers for factory orders (FO), shop orders (SO), and parts that moved between two internal site locations.
Due to this incapability, the client relied on paperwork to manually create new containers for internal plant shipment, identify existing containers in use, track container and consignment statuses, and generate lading bills before transfers. This approach resulted in poor visibility of shipment processes and tedious operational coordination.
Our Solution
Programmers.io followed a strategic approach to upgrade the applications and deliver the desired results.
View Container Status Feature Integration
The Programmers.io team integrated a new ‘View Container Status’ feature with the container log application to check the number of reusable containers available for allocation.
Active/Inactive Container Feature Integration
The team incorporated the “Active/Inactive Containers” feature in the container log application to help business users identify broken and usable containers for internal transfers.
Create Containers Feature Integration
They implemented the “Create Containers” feature in the container log application so that business users could create new reusable containers for internal shipments.
Site-to-Site Selection Feature Integration
They integrated a ‘Site-to-Site Selection’ feature in the container log application to allocate containers for internal plant transfers, enabling users to carry out internal and external shipments separately.
Bill of Lading Finalization Feature Integration
The team incorporated a ‘Bill of Lading Finalization’ feature in the shipping scheduler app to generate container information before unloading them at the destination.
Automated Container Barcode Deletion
The Programmers.io team upgraded the container log application to automatically delete container barcodes once they are empty, making them available for reallocation.

I wanted to take a moment to highlight and commemorate the efforts from our dedicated PIO team. To preface, the projects we work on here are complex, with rigid objectives, budgets, and timelines. Expectations are always high and are ever-changing. From the start of our relationship, the IO team was able to exceed expectations and make our business wishes a reality.
Over the past year I have worked with them, they have worked very hard to understand our highly customized system and troubleshoot things with little or no documentation while managing to keep the business up and running normally. Without the hard work and dedication they have shown, I know we would have had some issues causing downtime or lost production. I am looking forward to continuing working them in the next year as well.
I have been working with Programmers IO for more than 5 years now and I have been pleased with all projects and developers that I have worked with. We have had a few issues here and there but they have always fixed and made it right. They have been an excellent addition to our business.
