The Challenge

A premier provider of medical cost management services relied heavily on an IBM i (AS/400) environment, with mission-critical applications developed in-house over more than two decades. While the organization's IT team was highly experienced, it operated with limited resources and was struggling to keep up with a growing backlog of application enhancements and business requests.

At the same time, the organization faced two additional challenges. First, it needed a scalable integration framework to simplify connections between its IBM i environment and its external MuleSoft platform, reducing the effort required to onboard new partners and applications. Second, new legislative requirements required time-sensitive updates to critical systems, creating compliance risks and the potential for fines if deadlines were missed.
